김경택 교수 공동연구팀, ‘액체막’으로 극자외선 생성 성공 지스트(광주과학기술원, 총장직무대행 박래길)가 액체막에 고출력 레이저를 집속(모아서 가둠)시켜 극자외선을 만드는데 성공했다. 극자외선은 파장이 10&sim;124㎚(나노미터, 1㎚는 10억분의 1m)에 해당하는 짧은 파장의 빛으로, 반도체 기판에 회로를 그리거나 나노미터 해상도로 물질을 관측하는 이미징 등 정밀한 작업에 활용된다. 연구팀은 고압으로 액체를 내뿜는 두 개의 제트를 충돌시켜서 빠르게 흘러내리면서도 모양을 유지하는 얇은 액체막을 만들고, 이 액체막에 초고출력 레이저를 집속시켜 극자외선을 생성했다. 액체를 사용하는 방식으로 높은 반복률의 극자외선 광원을 개발할 수 있게 됐고, 기존에는 불가능했던 플라즈마 동역학의 측정 및 상대론 영역에서 발생하는 극자외선 파동 모양 등의 측정이 가능해졌다. 이 기술을 발전시키면 극자외선을 활용한 이미징 기술 등 산업 현장에서 이용할 강력한 극자외선 광원도 개발할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 이 결과는 국제 저명 학술지 네이처 커뮤니케이션스에 ...
